North Wheddon Farm - Our story

Here on the farm we strive to provide our guests with memorable experience, we understand that food and drink are large part of this.

And as such we take from our own experiences in providing and serving food & drink which will add to your time with us.

From a resturant background we wanted to experience a hands on approach to traditional farming with a view to providing some truly amazing ingredients to cook with. Our story began back in the summer of 2004 when we moved lock stock and barrel onto our old exmoor farm with our young family.

Nowadays if we don't raise it or grow it ourselves then you cn be sure it's locally sourced, whether it's cured, smoked or Aga cooked you can be sure there is a story behind it and a willing tale to tell, just ask if you interested.

Our 3 course dinners are £25.00 and here is a sample menu.

Starters

Home smoked salmon - From our own smoker served with a simple salad & a lemony mayonnaise.

Roast parsnip soup - A creamy winter warmer finished with crispy heart shaped croutons dipped in honey.

Local Wild Rabbit Faggots - In a sweet cider, plum & onion sauce a real field to fork dish.

All served with our own Aga baked breads

For Middles

Farmhouse Coq au Vin - Our own poultry, but English with smoky bacon, shallots and lots of red wine.

Wheddon Pork - Loins bursting with apples and filled with melted local cheddar and a Somerset sauce of apples and cream.

Venison (red deer)and Wild Mushroom Stew - garnished with black pudding & herbs.

Smoked Fishcakes- Our own mix of home smoked fresh water trout, mckerel, salmon , haddock & cod - on a bed of spinach with a light hollandaise sauce .

Baked Caramelised Red Onion & Somerset Goats Cheese - with our own chutney

All served with a mix of seasonal veg and potatoes
